| 대본 정보 | 자막> 제목자막> Oksanseowon Confucian Academy, Where Scholars Cleansed Their Minds and Devoted Themselves to Academic Pursuits 장소자막> Sesim Village in Angang-eup, Gyeongju 글자막> Sesim Village, whose name means` a village to cleanse the mind' includes various historical sites related to Yi Eon-jeok, a Confucian scholar in the mid-Joseon Dynasty. Sesimdae Rock After retiring to his hometown in Gyeongju, Yi Eon-jeok named the rock "Sesimdae" (lit. a rock to cleanse the mind) to show his determination to continue with his academic studies. In 1572, twenty years later after Yi`s death, a Confucian academy was established in this neighborhood to commemorate his achievements and virtuous deeds. 장소자막> Oksanseowon Confucian Academy Historic Site No.154(on UNESCO World Heritage Tentative Lists) Yi Eon-jeok has long been considered one of the five most eminent Confucian sages of Korea, and even Yi Hwang praised him as a master philosopher. This royally chartered Confucian academy has several wooden boards bearing calligraphic works by renowned figures such as Han Seok-bong, Kim Heong-hui, and Yi Hwang.
